Some random thoughts

*Y’all. Red Riding Hood may be the worst movie I’ve ever seen. It was that bad – and I’ve seen some real stinkers (Howard the Duck, anyone?). I don’t really have anything else to say about it.

*During a week when I’ve been composing a really fabulous blog post in my head regarding politics and the media, I find out that I’m not allowed to share any political views via social media or otherwise because it might be interpreted as the view point of my employer and not the balanced, unbiased news they share. Needless to say, it’s very frustrating.

*I’m really struggling trying to come up with the perfect Father’s Day gift for my father. He’s turning 60 this year and is harder to shop for than ever before. Got any suggestions?

*White Collar is off to a great start this summer – I can’t wait to see more. True Blood starts in a few, and I’m really excited to see where they’re going with the whole faery thing. What summer t.v. are you watching and/or excited about?

*I’ve been watching season 5 of Friday Night Lights even though I’ve already seen the whole thing. It is so amazing – there are no words. Do yourself a favor and stream it on Netflix. You won’t regret it. And I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – It’s not about football. It’s about relationships… I want to be Tami Taylor when I grow up, fyi.

UPDATE: I also wish that I was the reporter who did this piece with Chris Evans! It sounds like an amazing adventure!

The Return of Summer Television

The season premieres of White Collar and Covert Affairs last night mark the beginning of the summer television season for me. You know how it goes. The big four networks put on a bunch of crap, so we all migrate to the cable networks for scripted shows that don’t suck.

I enjoyed White Collar and Covert Affairs on USA. I am looking forward to the returns of Leverage and True Blood on June 26. The one I can’t wait for, though, is next week’s season premiere of Pretty Little Liars. I don’t know what it is about teen shows, but I’ve been hooked since I was a little girl. Of course, back then it was because I couldn’t wait to be a teen myself. Now, well, it is all nostalgia.

Since the first episode of My So-Called Life, it has been clear to me that I am living my teenage years vicariously through these shows. I wish for the chance to date the bad boy that Angela had. I long for the quick wit of Seth Cohen. And, I always wanted the money and freedom of Brooke on One Tree Hill.

I also thank god every episode of Secret Life of the American Teenager that my teen years were nothing like that. All of the incessant speechifying and sex talk drive me crazy. Yet, I can’t stop watching.

What shows are you looking forward to this summer? Or, do you actually get outside and enjoy the nice weather when the major networks head to reruns and reality?

The New Year of TV

I am looking forward to January as if it were the beginning of the new fall season.

I can’t wait to see how they explain the Kate/Peter relationship on White Collar. I am looking forward to seeing all of the loose ends get tied up on Lost. And our Winchesters will be back!

But, by far the most exciting series return in January is Chuck. NBC is launching the new season with a multi-day extravaganza. The first episodes of the new season will air Sunday, January 10, and then the show will settle back into it’s Monday night time slot.

Can’t wait til January? Join fellow Chuck fans in daily missions in the Chuck Me Out game.
