Did You Watch the New Moon Preview?

I suffered through a good portion of the MTV Movie Awards yesterday so I could catch the exclusive sneak peek of New Moon. I’m not sure the increase in budget is helping the werewolves any. The clip was a tad cheesy.

Finally, an Adult Is Cast as a Volturi

Michael Sheen has joined the cast of New Moon as Aro, the leader of the Volturi, the mysterious Italian leaders of the vampires. I have been supremely unhappy with the choices of child actors for most of these leaders because as good as they may be, they simply do not have the gravitas I believe is needed to inhabit these characters.

Who is Michael Sheen? You may remember him as Lucian from the Underworld movies. Or as the father of Kate Beckinsale’s daughter, if you follow the British tabs. Or as journalist David Frost from the Oscar-nominated Frost/Nixon. He is an actor who has the chops to make Aro an interesting character. I can’t wait to see what he does with it.

Dakota Fanning Will Play Jane in New Moon

Sources have finally confirmed that Dakota Fanning will play Jane in the adaptation of New Moon. It’s funny, I like their choices in women much more than their choices in men for these little Twilight films. Okay, really it’s just Edward. I think Edward is a controlling jerk who forces Bella to marry him and to convert to his “religion” at an extremely young age by withholding sex. But I also think he is physically an impeccable specimen of all-American boy–Robert Pattinson just doesn’t fit my mental image in any way, shape, or form.
