Visions of Winchesters: The Supernatural Blog Carnival, Nov. 18

Welcome to the November 18, 2009, edition of Visions of Winchesters: The Supernatural Blog Carnival.

Last Week’s Episode

On Supernatural, the Meta Outweighed the Mega
Annalee Newitz shares her reaction to The Real Ghostbusters, which she believed was a little too meta. I agree. I really enjoyed the meta fun in last season’s The Monster at the End of This Book, but The Real Ghostbusters was a little too heavy-handed.

Who Ya Gonna Call? Supernatural! Let’s Talk The Real Ghostbusters
The Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan also has a few bones to pick with the episode, although she seemed to enjoy it overall. And, as she says, “We nitpick because we love.”

Supernatural: The Real Ghostbusters
Over at Sign On San Diego, where I hope they always stay classy, Karla Peterson also jumps on the “I didn’t love it as much as Kripke thought I would” bandwagon.

Supernatural Recap: The Real Ghostbusters
Someone out there had to love this episode, right? Well, it wasn’t Julia Thorne, who describes the episode and gives her commentary throughout.

Supernatural Season 5 Episode 9: The Real Ghostbusters
We conclude the recaps with a slightly more enthusiastic viewer, Rachel N. over at Nick C.’s Behind the Screens blog.

This Week’s Episode

Mark Pellegrino on This Week’s Episode
Lucifer’s vessel talks about the episode.

Sneak Peek & Promo: Abandon All Hope
Clarissa at TV Over Mind gives video clips and an episode description.

Supernatural: Two Sneak Peeks at Episode 10 Abandon All Hope
Dread Central also has video, and they say the thing I don’t like to believe, that Abandon All Hope is the last new episode of the year.

Supernatural First Look: Dean and Meg Face Off
We close out with Ausiello, who has a clip that shows pretty much what the page title says.

News

Is Supernatural Jumping the Shark?
In yet another lament for the way Season 5 has played out so far, John Kubicek jumps off the bandwagon. He says that SPN has, indeed, jumped the shark, and he doesn’t know if it can un-jump it before he quits caring about all things Winchester. I’m inclined to agree, but I am willing to stick it out until this season ends. I mean, a few more months isn’t that much to sit through while we assess whether the funny and the retcons have been worth it. What else would I watch on Thursdays at 9?

Convention-al Wisdom
Maureen Ryan shares her thoughts on the recently concluded Chicago Con.

Salute to Supernatural Chicago 2009
The SPN Wiki gathers all of the con reports and videos, which they say are spoiler free, on one page. Enjoy!

That concludes this edition. The next edition of The Supernatural Blog Carnival will run in 2010. Submit your posts using the carnival submission form. Past posts can be found on the blog carnival index page or by clicking Supernatural in the tag cloud.

Preview of Supernatural Episode 5.3 “Free to Be You and Me”

LeAnn Tiede post a season 5 preview at Examiner.com. She discusses characters who will show up this season, so again, not spoiler-y unless you absolutely positively ant to know nothing about the upcoming episodes until you sit down to watch them.

Over at TV Fodder, Miller discusses some of the news from Season 5. Casting news is included, and some links include spoilers.

Christina Radish posts interviews with Misha Collins and Jim Beaver at iesb.net. Both discuss what is to come in Season 5.

Supernatural Blog Carnival, Aug. 14

Welcome to the August 14 edition of the Visions of Winchesters blog carnival. It’s summertime, so I’m keeping it loose in here. The posts are just kind of jumbled rather than grouped into categories. But, as always, spoilers are in a separate page.

Alice Jester discusses the information (and lack thereof) revealed at Comic-Con last month in “Hot Brothers Night.” This post at Blog Critics.org also previews The Vampire Diaries.

The CW released a promo video. Some say its spoiler-y, but I didn’t think so. If they play it on TV during the episode, it can’t reveal too much.

Buddy TV has two fun pieces from their Comic-Con coverage. First up is an interview with Jim Beaver. Next is a collection of videos from the panel at Comic-Con.

For those of you who think it is a travesty that neither Jared nor Jensen were able to go to Comic-Con, here are some videos of the boys at previous conferences:

Want to know which Supernatural character you are? If so, then take the quiz here. (BTW, I took it, and I am Dean.)

Finally, prepare for the new season by re-reading the awesome recaps at Television Without Pity. Begin the countdown to Sept. 10 now.

Visions of Winchesters: A Supernatural Blog Carnival, May 6

[digg=http://digg.com/television/Visions_of_Winchesters_A_Supernatural_Blog_Carnival_May_6]Welcome to the May 6, 2009, edition of Visions of Winchesters: The Supernatural Variety.

Last Week’s Episode

Suzanne presents Supernatural: The Rapture posted at Sci Fi Chicks. Suzanne opens: “Sera Gamble once said in an interview something to the effect that one of the fun parts of writing was creating characters you love, then torturing them. Keeping that in mind, the Supernatural writing staff must be positively giddy by this point.” LOL

And Sylvia Bond gives her reactions to the episode at Pink Ray Gun. Sylvia loved the Naughty Sam bits, but found the Soap Angel backstory a tad boring.

We close our episode reviews with Alice Jester’s piece at Blog Critics. The Sammy shocker turned her to Jello.

Tomorrow’s Episode

TV Fanatic has a preview of When the Levee Breaks. It includes two clips.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer previews the episode in which our little Sammy becomes the big bad wolf. This preview only includes one video clip, but it offers more context. And yeah, it’s hosted TV Guide content, but I prefer to visit the newspapers’ websites these days.

News

The Chicago Tribune has a nice story about Jim Beaver. At the bottom of the page, there are descriptions of tomorrow’s episode and next week’s season finale, so be warned if you are spoiler-phobic.

Wizard Magazine included Supernatural on its list of the 25 greatest sci-fi shows of all time. I’m not sure I agree with the rankings. Highlander: The Series was ranked higher than SPN.

Fun Stuff

Play the How Well Do You Know Supernatural game at Absurd Trivia. Nothing earth-shattering, but definitely a fun way to spend five to ten minutes.

Watch a compilation of the funniest moments of the first part of season 3. And, yes, it includes the scene where Dean can’t find Metallicar.

Spoilers

As tomorrow’s episode is the penultimate of the season, all spoilers are covered in the previews of next week’s episode.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Visions of Winchesters: The Supernatural Variety using our carnival submission form. After that, we’ll be on our long summer hiatus. See you next week!

Visions of Winchesters: Supernatural Blog Carnival, April 22

Previous Episode

We’ll start out with Television Without Pity’s recap of The Monster at the End of This Book, well, because I need a little refresher, and Demian and Raoul give good recap.

Sylvia Bond shares her take on the episode at Pink Raygun. She likes it. She really likes it. I enjoy Pink Raygun . It’s nice to know that there are other sci-fi geek girls out there. I thought I was the only one when I was growing up.

Upcoming Episode

SF Universe has the episode synopsis and promo pics for Jump the Shark. And MovieWeb gives us a few clips.

I’m looking forward to a new episode, but I will say that the synopsis scares me a little. I have faith, especially after the last episode, but I still have the fear.

News
Amy Vernon presents Supernatural: The beginning of the end? posted at TV Shows, saying, “I may be alone in this, but I think having an end date for Supernatural may be a good thing. Even if it is a Season 5.”

On MovieWeb, Paulington James Christensen III presents an interview with Jim Beaver. Beaver is plugging his book, Life’s That Way, but discusses his role as Bobby Singer a bit, too.

SupportSupernatural has an interview with Julie McNiven, aka Anna. McNiven gives some insight into her character and her take on fandom. Basically, she doesn’t care if girls hate her because it’s just a character. And she gets that we girls don’t think anyone is good for Sam and Dean. SupportSupernatural is a good site to visit, because they are parlaying our love of the show into fundraising for charity.

Finally, if you haven’t caught it already, here is an interview of Jared and Misha from some Australian morning show. You Australians are so lucky to have the boys come visit.

Fun Stuff

For the readers of non-English languages, here is an online magazine about Supernatural all in French and a Supernatural site in Portuguese.

And for the slash fans, a little video fun to whet your imaginations.

Spoilers

With the season drawing to a close, new spoilers are a bit hard to find. I’m keeping it very tight here so that I can keep this all on one post.

Paulington James Christensen III shares Jim Beaver’s take on the last three episodes of season 4 at MovieWeb. And, yes, I am calling this the MovieWeb edition of the SPN blog carnival.

And there is always the Spoilers forum at TWOP.
