Madonna and Guy Ritchie Are Through
Is it wrong that it makes me sad when yet another Hollywood marriage ends?
It’s not that I had anything invested in Madonna’s relationship with Ritchie or that I somehow saw their marriage as a litmus test for my own marriage. But it does make me sad that they couldn’t work it out.
I also wonder why it is so important to keep marital problems under wrap. Madonna and Ritchie’s publicists were denying the potential split even an hour before the divorce was made public. Why? Madonna didn’t keep herself from being filmed/photographed with A-Rod, o why continue to tell the press that nothing is wrong and stage happy couple photo ops with Ritchie? Why not just say the couple is going through a rough patch and would appreciate some privacy as they work through it. Or just say that they don’t comment on their client’s personal lives.
How do you feel about it? How do marriages in Hollywood compare to marriages among us plebes? How does the attitude that divorce is an acceptable option affect you?
Another question to ponder: Why does it even matter to us? When you get right down to it, who the f cares how someone else’s relationship is going?
