All-American Boy Beats Brit Heartthrob

People magazine has named Chace Crawford the hottest bachelor. Yes, even hotter than Robert Pattinson.

I support their decision wholeheartedly. As I have mentioned before, Chace was my mental image of Edward Cullen, and I would have loved to see him star in Twilight. I think Edward’s creepy stalker tendencies would have been less distressing to me if they had been delivered by Chace.

Zac Efron Is Still the Golden Boy

His new film, 17 Again, led the weekend box office with $24.1 million in ticket sales. Read the entire top 10 here.

I don’t know how this makes me feel. The movie looks innocuous enough. A pretty typical adult goes back to high school comedy. And Matthew Perry is in it, and I’m happy for him to be seeing some box office success. But I’m pretty tired of Zac Efron and his impeccably coiffed hair. I want to wash it and dry it in a normal style that doesn’t invovle quite so much product. Or throw him in a wind tunnel to see if his hair actually moves.

In related news, Chace Crawford may be the new Ren in the Footloose remake. That should be fun. I might actually watch it.

The Trouble with Edward

I finally figured out why I have misgivings about the actor cast as Edward in Twilight: he looks too British.

For me, that first book was such an American tale, and Robert Pattison just doesn’t have that wholesome, all-American look that I imagined for Edward.

I pictured him looking quite a bit more like Chace Crawford, so that is who I had hoped would be cast. I enjoy watching him on Gossip Girl, and I think he would have done well with the role of Edward.

I like all of the other casting decisions. I really like Kristen Stewart as Bella. She looks almost exactly like I had pictured Bella. And I think Kellen Lutz is perfect for Emmett. The other actors aren’t exactly what I pictured, but I think they are close enough, and they have the talent to change my perception of the characters.

I’m sure that Robert Pattison will be just fine. I’m just happy to have finally figured out my misgivings.
