[digg=http://digg.com/television/What_Does_the_Future_Hold_for_Reaper]The Hollywood Reporter announced last week that Reaper was done-zo. But last night, Reaper scored a 19% increase in ratings, up to 2.45 million. Of course, it lost to According to Jim, which I didn’t even know was still on.
Tyler Labine was listed one of the Zap2It’s hot new fall faces, with his gig on the pilot Sons of Tucson. And we’ve all heard that the creators jumped ship to a deal with Fox. After the disappointments of the last few episodes (boring, much?), I think new heads at the helm wouldn’t be a bad idea–and less Sock, definitely a good idea right now.
I’m trying to be hopeful, but things aren’t looking that good. What do you think? Will that bump in numbers be enough to convince the CW that Reaper needs a season 3? Should it?

Apparently the CW execs interfered a bit with the vision of Reaper’s creator, asking for more elements that are appealing to female viewers. So they added some new characters, including a sexy demon (Nina, played by Jenny Wade), Sock’s new-found Asian stepsister (Kristin, played by Eriko Tamura), and some new dudes.
First, I fear for the show because of the shades of Bela and Ruby 1.0 from Supernatural. I liked Ruby a lot more than some viewers, but I cheered with the best of them when Bela was dragged off to hell.
Second, why does the CW think the only things girls like is other girls? I’m a girl (last time I checked, at least), and I’m perfectly to happy to watch a show with male leads. Bret Harrison is no Jared or Jensen, but he’s still pretty easy on the eyes. And I’ve had a crush on Michael Ian Black since the Sleep with the State Essay Concept skit. (I know Ken Marino is the more obvious choice, but come on, who couldn’t love Black in this skit and the one about the pants?) Don’t remember that skit? This page has a transcript.
Whatever. I’ll still watch tonight. Will you be watching, too?
