I tried to have an open mind, but when I heard Britney Spears’ new single, I fell immediately into hate with it. It is over-produced, synthetic junk. Listen to it here if you haven’t heard it yet: http://z100.elvisduran.com/pages/news/britneyspears/womanizer.html. Feel free to let me know if you also think it is crap. Or of you like it.
I wish that we didn’t have to hear pitch-corrected, synthesized music all the time. (Well, I guess we don’t HAVE to hear it. We can certainly choose a radio station that plays music by actual artists. But, because of my love for pop culture, I hear horrible things like this Britney song and the evilness that is perpetrated on my ears by Heidi Montag on Yo on E!).
Speaking of Yo on E!, one of the writers from Entertainment Weekly (I think it was Leah Greenblatt) was on yesterday talking about the new Pink album. It’s great, she said, pointing out how nice it is that Pink can actually sing. Really? A singer who can sing? Alert the media. Oh wait, she is the media.

It is impossible to escape Britney Spears “news”. Now she has been admitted into the hospital after refusing to surrender her children to their father and possibly either ODing or attemptign suicide–with her son in the room with her.
I’m so sick of it all. I hope that she gets the help for her apparent mental illness in time to avoid destroying the lives of her children, but other than that, I just plain do not care.
How about you? Do you care, or have you also gone so far beyond Britney overload that the mere mention of her name invokes your gag reflex?

I hate Britney Spears. Even if I had liked her music or her “inspiring” life story, I would be so sick of the ridiculous coverage of her implosion that I would have begun hating her anyway.
See, I love reading and listening to pop culture coverage. I listen to Yo on E! and E! News on my XM radio everyday on my way to and from work. I visit the Entertainment page of Google News as well as usweekly.com, eonline.com, zap2it.com, tvsquad.com and people.com multiple times each day. I even visit hecklerspray.com even though they frequently talk about British celebrities I’ve never heard of.
Since the infamous head shaving incident, I have been teetering toward total Britney overload. In the past few weeks, coverage seems to have lessened a little–I was so happy. Other than the occasional lighter theft, not much Britney on the airwaves. Until her little sister got knocked up. Oh, damn you little Jamie Lynn Spears and your possible statutory rapist of a possible ex-boyfriend. Now we get more and more coverage of Britney as she finds out about your pregnancy the same way the rest of us did–through the press. Or as she shops rather than flying home to lend a little moral support to her poor little sister. Damn you.
