We’re Ready to Say Goodbye to Supernatural

So, the readers have spoken. We are not willing to watch Supernatural limp along to an ignominious death.

I have mixed feelings. I am at peace with the show ending on a high note, but I know that if it continues past season 5, I’ll watch. I mean, I watched season 7 of Gilmore Girls and I never quit watching Friends–I still watch at least five episodes per week. I did break up with the X-Files after Mulder left, and I think I have broken up with Heroes, so I’m not a completely hopeless case.

What shows have you suffered through to the bitter end? And will you watch a sixth season of Supernatural?

I watched ER until Noah Wyle’s character, Carter, left the show and then picked it back up for the final season.
I watched all four seasons of The OC religiously; I actually felt like season 4 was almost a return to the snarky brilliance of the first season.
I watched all of Friends and Seinfeld. I have been keeping up with Bones, but this is a make it or break it season for me. Some of last season was brilliant, but most of it was not very good. If this season doesn’t improve, I’ll probably relegate it to my when I get to it list.
I watched every season of Buffy like it was crack, even the maligned sixth and seventh seasons. Is it wrong that I liked Buffy and Spike together?
I mourn the loss of Pushing Daisies and Life. I would’ve watched those to the bitter end.
I feel better about sticking with Dollhouse after having seen the missing ‘Epitaph One’ episode – true Joss brilliance. I hope the second season continues in that vein.

If Supernatural comes back for a sixth season, I’d probably watch it if it has all of the principles back. If not, I’ll let it go, or at least relegate it to the “when I get to it” portion of my tivo. :)

Season 4 of the O.C. was so bittersweet. The show regained its charm just as it was ending.

I admit it too, I am a bad fan in letting shows that should die live. Supernatural should end after this season, but if it continues, I will watch. I broke up with X-Files when Mulder left, too, but I made the mistake of watching Smallville last year, hoping it would be the end, only everyone seemed to be doing that, so that ratings went up enough to keep it going. I can only blame myself.

Here’s hoping this is a glorious end for Sam and Dean. I just wrote my most recent blog about the show, and mentioned my hopes as well that we get to go out swinging.

Welcome, Amanda! It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who sticks it out to the bitter end even when I shouldn’t. :)
