Want to See the Cutest Dog in the World?

IMHO, at least. My dog, Aries, was featured in this week’s Bark smilers slideshow. He’s the second photo.

Aries (aka Ch. Snowy Mountain’s Aries Rising) was six months old and probably 55 or 60 pounds in that photo. And he had the sweetest puppy face. Aries is now two-and-a-half years old and weighs in at a good solid 110. He is a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, a breed descended from the Roman Mastiffs.

This photo was taken last month.

Pseudo-vacation

I’m not sure it’s all I ever wanted, but I could definitely stand to get away.

For the rest of the month of June, I will be decreasing my posting frequency. I will be here, and I will be posting, but it won’t be the five+ times a week you are used to. I will have my mid-summer Supernatural blog carnival on June 24, so you won’t want to miss that post.

I suggest following me on Twitter, subscribing to the RSS feed, subscribing to the email notifications, or adding me to your Google Reader subscriptions. That way, you won’t miss out on anything.

Have a great June!

Land of the Lost Is Ruining My Childhood Memories

I never thought Land of the Lost was a work of cinematic genius. It was cheesy and silly, but it was one of my favorite shows when I was a little girl.

I was excited when I heard they were doing a movie. Scared when I heard it was a Will Ferrell vehicle. Appalled when I saw the trailer.

Apparently, audiences who sat through early screenings are on the same wavelength. This post from the LA Times blog predicts a dismal opening.

What do you think? Does LotL look fun to you? Or do you think they have messed with one too many childhood treasures, and they must be stopped?

Step 2 in Shedding the Disney Image: Launch a Clothing Line

With all of the failed celebrity clothing lines, it seems silly to me that Miley Cyrus thinks that will be the key for moving her from Disney tween queen to serious show biz tour de force. I mean, does anyone remember Hilary Duff?

But, Miley is making some good choices with this line:

  1. Putting it in Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is a tour de force in its own right. I don’t shop there unless there is something I absolutely can’t find anywhere else, because the store’s vision and my vision don’t align. But, a lot of people do.
  2. Partnering with a name designer. Max Azria is well known, and his name lends a credibility to her line that many lines didn’t have.
  3. Launching a line that appeals to her target demographic. Hilary Duff tried to go for a more grown-up consumer, but she didn’t have the name recognition with them. I don’t know if her line is still around, but I never see it in any stores.
  4. Launching while she is still ridiculously popular. She isn’t taking any time off to figure out what she wants to do, so her Hannah Montana following is still intact.

I think this line of clothing has the best chance of any I have seen, but I still think it is annoying and ridiculous. I like the thought that she’s bringing back flannel, though–combat boots and Doc Martens are sure to follow. Goodbye, evil high heels that hurt my back and feet. Hello, sturdy shoes that provide good arch support.

Still Awaiting Final Word on Reaper

OMG.

Tom Petty is a wise man. The waiting is, indeed, the hardest part.

We still don’t know whether Reaper will continue to live on.

Sometimes, I Think I'm Too Judgmental…

I have been picking on Cosmo Radio a lot lately, both here and in my private life.

Yesterday, I decided that all of my scorn is completely justified. I may be judgmental, but only of things that deserve it.

I saw a tweet from @COSMORADIO that said: “Can you have more than one sole-mate?” I responded thus: “Do you mean soul mate? Or is it really something about shoes?” Whoever was monitoring the Twitter account responded graciously.

Then, I was listening to Diana on Cosmolicious completely butcher the word “tousled” (and make some other pronunciation mistakes that I don’t remember because she didn’t say them 20 million times, like she did “tassled” and “tawssled”).

I was ready to give her a pass until she started spouting some crap about being mysterious and having back-up plans with friends that sounded as if she was reading from an updated version the The Rules.

I feel like the people who hated Howard Stern when he first started his show, but couldn’t stop themselves from listening. They must have been filled with rage and self-loathing, just as I am. They must have gone on and on to their friends about how they want to stop listening, but they can’t.

Who wants to join a Cosmo Radio support group with me?

Did You Get Chucked Last Night?

To quote Lorelai Gilmore, Dirty!

As many of you know, we were successful in our campaign to raise awareness about the awesomeness that is Chuck and to help it get a third season.

But, if we want our show to continue past the third season, we know that we need to keep our excitement high. We need to continue to recruit new viewers and to ensure that our loyal viewers keep tuning in.

To do that, many of we fans are visiting the WB website and watching Chuck episodes at 9 ET on Mondays nights. And those of us who are so inclined are tweeting while we do it. We’ve even got a recapper giving his take on the episodes.

Did you watch last night? Were you a new viewer, or did you revisit the pilot?

Did You Watch the New Moon Preview?

I suffered through a good portion of the MTV Movie Awards yesterday so I could catch the exclusive sneak peek of New Moon. I’m not sure the increase in budget is helping the werewolves any. The clip was a tad cheesy.

What did you think? (If you missed it–or gave up on the MTV awards before they showed it–here’s a link.)
