Why I Hate Chris Brown

I know that it has only been a week since I called for a moratorium on the Rihanna-Chris Brown stories, but, well, I thought of a comparison.

I was watching Metal Mania on VH1 Classic over the weekend, and I saw the Welcome to the Jungle video. As Axl Rose hit the screen, I realized that he was the Chris Brown of the late 80s. He wrote the seemingly sweet song Sweet Child O’ Mine for his girlfriend Erin Everly. A few years later, she dumped him and made it clear that he had been abusive. Since that little tidbit came out, every time I hear Sweet Child O’ Mine, I think of the ridiculous apologies abusive men always give after they have hit their partners. You know, how they bring home flowers and promise never to let it happen again as long as the partner can just keep from pissing him off that much. I think that song was in lieu of flowers after a bad fight, and it must have killed her every time she heard it. It is so nice, but its background story is so horrible.

I can’t wait for Chris Brown to release his apology song. Who knows, maybe he already has. Which song in his catalog do you think might be the apology?
