Changes for Reaper

Apparently the CW execs interfered a bit with the vision of Reaper’s creator, asking for more elements that are appealing to female viewers. So they added some new characters, including a sexy demon (Nina, played by Jenny Wade), Sock’s new-found Asian stepsister (Kristin, played by Eriko Tamura), and some new dudes.

First, I fear for the show because of the shades of Bela and Ruby 1.0 from Supernatural. I liked Ruby a lot more than some viewers, but I cheered with the best of them when Bela was dragged off to hell.

Second, why does the CW think the only things girls like is other girls? I’m a girl (last time I checked, at least), and I’m perfectly to happy to watch a show with male leads. Bret Harrison is no Jared or Jensen, but he’s still pretty easy on the eyes. And I’ve had a crush on Michael Ian Black since the Sleep with the State Essay Concept skit. (I know Ken Marino is the more obvious choice, but come on, who couldn’t love Black in this skit and the one about the pants?) Don’t remember that skit? This page has a transcript.

Whatever. I’ll still watch tonight. Will you be watching, too?

I’m glad to see Reaper back in the lineup & not overly surprised that the network *thinks* they know anything about their viewers. When you trust the “ratings” that tells it all. Anyway, let’s hope that there’s a season 3 and that Reaper finally comes out on Blu-Ray.

I’m a moron, and I thought the show started at 9. So I missed the first few minutes. I spent the next 15 minutes completely lost trying to figure out if I had missed something between the season finale and tonight’s episode.

Other than that confusion, I enjoyed it. What did you think of it?

I liked it. I felt like a five minute, last time on Reaper, would have been helpful because I was fuzzy on his dad’s “death” and how he knew for sure the devil is his biol-dad. But, a good episode nonetheless. It’s not high-brow, it’s not flashy, it’s just funny and enjoyable.

Lulu, I’m with you. A better refresher would have helped me. (OK. Turning the show on at the right time would also have helped. But if they had spent more time catching viewers up after 10 months off the air, perhaps I would have caught the actual beginning of the show when I turned it on.)

Thanks for visiting! I hope to see you here again soon.

Rob, Are you trying to out-curmudgeon me today?
