Anonymity at Stake?

A blogger posted some nasty comments about a model I’ve never heard of, and boy is she pissed.

Liskula Cohen, who apparently graced the covers of Vogue and W in the 90s, is suing Google to find out the identity of the blogger, who posts at Skanks in NYC. Her allegation is that the posts are defamatory. I haven’t read them, and even though I like snark, I don’t think I really want to.

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press posted a piece a few months back discussing the perils and pitfalls of protecting anonymity on the web: http://www.rcfp.org/news/mag/32-4/guarding_the_unnamed_writers_of_the_internet_34.html. They aren’t too worried about the potential loss of anonymity, and neither am I (especially because I use my name).
