The Sirius-XM Merger
I’ve been suffering through the changes wrought by the Sirius-XM merger for the past couple weeks.
First the loss of E! radio. After a week of dead air, they replaced E! with Cosmo radio. So now instead of E! News and Yo on E! I have to listen to ridiculous 20-somethings talk about prostitutes, flat stomachs, and formaldehyde-laced bras.
And the stations I liked all switched to the Sirius versions. What was once early alternative on Fred is now mid- to late 80s poppy alternative on 1st Wave. What was once good 90s and current alternative on Lucy is now 90s rock on Lithium. And what was once good current alternative is slightly less good current alternative on Alternative Nation. 80s on 8 and 90s on 9 don’t seem to play as good music. I don’t even know what they did with the Mix, but again its not as good.
On other news of things that just aren’t as good as they used to be, I struggled to watch 90210 last night. Why? I don’t really know. I guess I was just too tired to do anything on the computer. I failed. Instead, I watched How I Met Your Mother on my laptop. I wish I could stand to wait until the 17-day window is up before catching missed episodes. Oh well.
